There is NOTHING quite like gettin' the lovin' on, face to face. We love our farmers markets, there's a real buzz, great local foods, a great opportunity to taste new foods, exchanging idea's, ideologies, recipes and wouldn't be right without a healthy dose of craic.
Irish Food is on Fire! Small producers from Cork to Donegal making incredible products from local resources, Bord Bia have see a 42% in small food producers and estimate the sector is worth 400 million and growing. Food festivals are a great snap shot of what is happening in different regions, a real opportunity to showcase local produce and to open a dialogue about our food and how its produced. However, sometimes commerce gets in the way, the success of some food festivals means they have increased participation fees for producers by 100% year on year, making it unviable for small producers, artisans and start ups to participate, giving over to the more lucrative big business, hot food and coffee vendors. Depriving the small producer the opporuntiy to grow and the customer the opportunity to choose. We nolonger participate in these festivals. We do however applaud the following festivals for their continued support of small local producers.
